Washington, D.C., itself is a monument to national traditions while, at the same time, it is a dynamic cultural hotspot and one of the most LGBT-friendly cities in the country. Massive stone government buildings and colossal monuments dominate the District, but the low skyline, intimate neighborhood streets, and exceptional walkability give the city a very human scale.
